On most Thursday evenings through the summer we arrange a coastal paddle on Southampton Water, The Solent or nearby, though we do avoid evenings when we would be getting on or off the water at low tide when the mud can be rather fierce. Typically we try to meet at the start car park at around 7pm which means leaving Basingstoke at 6pm. These paddles are weather dependant so please contact the organiser on Wednesday evening between 7 and 9pm to check the forecast and confirm the paddling venue.
Contact
Organiser's names will be added to the list of planned paddles below. However, if none are shown please contact Hilary Booth on a Wednesday evening or on 01256 893519 for further information to check the weather.
Weather
For the current weather at the Bramble Bank (where Southampton Water meets the Solent) click here. Typically force 4 (16 knots) is a reasonable limit for comfortable paddling.
Boats
These trips are intended for long (4 metres +) kayaks and not for modern river or play boats. However the Club does have a selection of sea kayaks that can be borrowed, for more information click here. Please note that as an early departure from Basingstoke is needed to reach the coast by 7pm you will need to arrange transport if you borrow a club kayak.
