This is the pool programme for Autumn 2017. Please check it regularly - things may change. Please note that due to a QMC Open Evening there will be no 7pm or 7:30pm session on November 8th. The Rolling Clinic will still be running.

Pool session notes

  • For the 7pm Junior sessions, children must be changed and already in buoyancy aids at 7 o'clock.
  • Juniors on the 7pm session may stay on the water for the following open session (subject to paying an extra £4.00), if there is space available.
  • Open Sessions can be pre-booked the week before. Pre-bookings will only be taken between 7:30 and 9pm (to ease pressure on desk during first half hour.) People can come to the pool and book or use the pool phone.
  • For the all open sessions (where there is not a course running in parallel) we will aim to have at least one coach (preferably more) available for tuition and advice.

Sessions / pool costs and payments

There are three lengths of session at the pool 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending upon the type of session. BADCC charges £2 per 15 minutes – so a 45 minute session will be £6. This includes to the option of hiring all the equipment you need for the session – boat, paddles, buoyancy aid and helmet when required. The fee is set by the club to ensure we cover the cost of hiring the pool from QMC and maintaining the fleet of pool boats over the entire pool season.

30 minutes £4
45 minutes £6
1 Hour £8

Who can take part in pool sessions / Joining BADCC

All first time users must take part in the pool induction training session. After the first taster session BADCC requires everyone that takes part in a pool session are or become a club member.

What should I wear?

While it is up to you, most people find it comfortable to wear their normal swimming costume plus a teeshirt and shorts as you will often be in and out of the water and boat!

Bulk buy tickets

We have introduced bulk buy tickets for people that regularly attend our pool sessions. The tickets are divided up into 15 minute blocks to give you freedom to use them for whatever sessions you wish to paddle. For example if you to pay for you and your friend to both paddling on a 30 minute session, we will just mark off four blocks on your ticket. These tickets can be purchased from the pool desk and will be stored in a card index box held at the pool.

30 minute sessions 5 10 £20
  10 20 £40
45 minute sessions 5 15 £30
  10 30 £60

Use of own equipment

You may use your own boat at the pool. However the fee remains the same. Your equipment must be cleaned with the poolside hose pipe. The pool lifeguard will advise if use of your own equipment is appropriate for a particular session and point out where the hose is located.

Who can I talk to?

Hopefully someone from the club will have introduced themselves to you when you arrive at the pool. If we are busy look out for one of these people as they are best able to answer all your paddling questions
