Three Star Sea Kayak Training
The next sea kayak introductory course will be start in May 2018. The course will comprise three evenings' introduction to techniques for long boats on the Basingstoke Canal followed by two day paddles on the relatively sheltered waters of Poole Harbour, the Jurassic Coast or Southampton Water to introduce the basics of sea kayaking using the Club's sea kayaks to paddlers who are confident paddling on the flat water of the canal.
The three evening sessions (Wednesdays 2, 9 and 16 May) will introduce a range of techniques appropriate for sea kayaks. This will be run on the Basingstoke Canal where we will be able to concentrate on technique rather than coping with wind and waves.
The second two days will be be primarily expeditions to develop techniques skills.
The course will aim to cover all the Three Star Sea Kayak skills. The sea kayak programme for this summer will provide opportunities to practice and develop those skills.
Cost: £60 per person (£40 if you use your own sea kayak)
