Wednesday 15 June 2011
On Wednesday 15th June 2011 we celebrated cutting the first at Colt Hill and the start to building a clubhouse on the Club's land at Colt Hill.
Hilary Booth wielded her spade to make the first cut into the soil in front assembled members of the Club. It is fitting that Hilary should have this honour: as equipment officer she arranges for kayaks to be transported to Colt Hill every Wednesday evening that the the Club paddles on the Basingstoke Canal; and it was Hilary's husband Martin who did so much of the work at the planning stage that has allowed the Club to progress from mere landowner to prospective clubhouse owner.
This marks the end of the beginning, the planning stage of the Clubhouse, and the beginning of the construction stage.
