Early August 2011
Following earlier work undertaken by Southern Electric to create a new access from the car park Club members have constructed a permanent metalled way from the car park to the clubhouse site.
To ensure the access lasts and requires minimal maintenance the existing soil has been excavated to a depth of about 400mm. The new way comprises compacted crushes stone (MoT type 1 sub-base) laid over a layer of TX160 geogrid. The geogrid reinforces the stone base, helping to resist rutting and reducing the thickness of pavement construction required.
