Sunday 18th September
A gap in the rain and the forecast of shows made today the ideal day to start sowing the wildflower meadow mix.
The best months for sowing the wild flow meadow mix are August or September, so that germination occurs before winter and those seeds that need a period of cold to break dormancy can germinate in the spring.
We are aiming to sow as much as possible of the eastern end this September. Any areas that we cannot sow in the next few weeks we will leave until March. This is the other good period for sowing wildflower mixes. However seed sow in the spring tends to flower a few weeks later than that sown in the autumn.
