Saturday 9th March
This morning's work party started by collecting up all the hedge trimmings etc created by clearing space for hedge planting this season. After an hour Colin and I had assembled the pile shown in the photo on the left.
Next it was time to start planting the 20 to 30 saplings left over from the work two weeks ago. We worked along the towpath hedge filing in the gaps in the hedge and replace the odd plant that had failed to take. With the tow path side complete we turned our attention to the car park side, again reinforcing this section and replacing a few plants that had failed to take.
The morning was finished off by planting out a few primroses in the wildflower meadow. It was good to see that the cornfield annuals are beginning to grow in the section of meadow sown last year.
