Saturday 3rd August

With the arrival of August even the latest of the wild flowers in the meadow had passed their prime.  It was time to start cutting the meadow.

Whilst hard work cutting the meadow for the second summer was intensely enjoyable.  The Clubhouse itself may not yet have reached the foundations but this element has reached a degree of maturity.  Working together with two strimmers it took Colin and Peter about 2 hours to cut the grass in the meadow.

This is an important aspect of maintenance, not only to control undesirable weeds but also to promote good growing conditions for the meadow flowers that we are seeking to encourage.  Following this cut the meadow will be cut two or three more times before the winter to keep the grass short.
