Saturday 12th October

20 tonnes of Type 1 sub-base (crushed limestone) was delivered on Thursday. Now we had to use it.

The first job was to lay two ducts across the entrance, just in case we ever need to get power or CCTV cables to the eastern end of the car park.  The other "before we start" job was undertaking some trimming of the machine excavated base: in two of the corners we needed to remove just a little more soil.

Then we could spread the geogrid and start placing the stone.  At last we have a clean firm surface inside the gates!  These is still more work to move the heap of hardcore so it can be incorporated in the hardstanding but we started.

Thanks to George, John and Peter.
