Development of a canoe clubhouse at Colt Hill Wharf, Odiham is part of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council's "Strategic plan for sport and recreation in Basingstoke and Deane 2012 to 2025"
History
The Club has met on the Basingstoke Canal at Colt Hill each summer since it was formed in 1987. In 1994 a half acre small holding between the canal and the public car park at Colt Hill came up for sale. With a mixture of grants and loans from the Hampshire Playing Fields Association and from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council the Club was able to purchase this land a year later. This was the start of the dream and three years paying back loans.
What Has The Clubhouse Cost So Far?
Purchase of the land at Colt Hill and development of the clubhouse to the current stage represents a significant investment of time and money for the Club. To date the total investment is estimated to have a a cash equivalent of £410,000.
