During the summer when we are paddling on canals and rivers and have a couple of months away from the confines of the pool, it is important that we pay particular attention of the abilities and requirements of the whole group. Here are a few ground rules:
- Always be aware of who is paddling with you.
- Do not paddle by yourself, especially if you are a beginner, or a slow paddler.
- If you cannot keep up with your group, stop and wait for the group behind, which is probably paddling more slowly, or get your group to slow down.
- If you are a more advanced paddler and you come across someone who is struggling by him or herself, stick with them.
