The Tryweryn is a Black river and is suitable for those who are confident on the Dart Loop or the Cardiff White Water course. The river includes three Premier Division slalom courses: the "Graveyard" and the "International" on the upper section and Bala Mill Falls (portagable) on the lower section. The Upper Tryweryn, which is continuous Grade 3-4, is run by Canolfan Tryweryn - the Welsh International White Water Centre - and there are changing rooms, showers, and a decent cafe. It is a short but intense section of river with numerous drops and rapids packed into a just over a km.
The Lower Tryweryn is a longer continuous Grade 2 - 3 with paddle a Grade 4 rapid (Bala Mill Falls, which is easily portagable) just before the egress at Bala. Though not as difficult as the Upper, it is is still a committing paddle.
There will be no accommodation booked for this trip - participants will need to find their own accommodation locally. There are a variety of B&Bs, bunk-houses, campsites and hotels within easy driving distance depending on your desired level of comfort.
