A key element in providing paddling for all regardless of any disability is the quality of the Club's coaches.

The Club is fortunate to have four who have practical experience working with paddlers with a range of disabilities, including three coaches who have disability awareness training.

Colin King

Colin is not only the Club's Inclusion Officer, he also has over ten years' experience as a BCU Level 3 Inland Kayak Coach.  Colin has extensive experience coaching young people on both sheltered water and white water. Colin has paddled white water in England, Wales and the Alps.

Colin is actively involved in the Club's current outreach project for paddlers with disabilities and has experience helping paddlers overcome a range of physical disabilities.

Colin was Basingstoke and Deane's Coach of the Year 2012 and runner up in the "Impact on Disability" category of the Canoe England Volunteer Awards 2013.

Janella Mansell

Janella is the Club's Paddlesport Development Officer and has over ten years' experience as a BCU Level 3 Inland Kayak Coach. Janella has extensive experience coaching young people on both sheltered water and white water. Janella has paddled white water in the UK and in the Alps. As a sea kayaker Janella has paddled on the Jurassic Coast, around the Isle of Wight as well as camping expeditions to the Hebrides.

Janella has been actively involved in the Club's current outreach project for paddlers with disabilities, though Scouting commitments are preventing her from taking part at present. She has experience helping paddlers overcome a range of physical disabilities and experience working with paddlers who have learning difficulties. 

Peter Mansell

Peter is currently the Club's Safety Officer. He is a BCU Level 4 Inland Kayak Coach and BCU Level 3 Sea Kayak Coach. He is also a provider of safety courses and has experience as a coach educator.  As a paddler he has lead Club trips to the Alps for white water paddling and to the West Coast of Scotland for sea kayak expeditions. Recently he completed a solo circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight in under 24 hours.

Peter is actively involved in the Club's outreach project for paddlers with disabilities and has coached paddlers with physical disabilities and learning difficulties.

Peter was an Olympic Torch Bearer in 2012 and winner of the Canoe England Volunteer Awards 2013 in the "Impact on Disability" category.

Hilary Booth

Hilary is not only the Club's equipment officer but also a BCU Level 1 Coach. Hilary has paddled white water in the Alps but is now more active as a sea kayaker. Hilary has paddled on the Jurassic Coast, around the Solent and Isle of Wight, in Cornwall as well as camping expeditions to Mull, the Slate Isles, the Outer Hebrides and the Discovery Islands (Canada).

Hilary has ben actively involved in the Club's outreach project for paddlers with disabilities since 2011.
